The app regularly updates sun-based timers saved in your account and checks the battery level of the motors in the background, so that everything stays accurate and up to date.
Many Android devices use a default battery mode called “Optimised”, which restricts how often apps can run background tasks. If these restrictions apply, your timer updates may be delayed, and your motor battery levels might not refresh correctly.
To avoid this, the app needs the Android battery mode set to “Unrestricted”, which allows it to perform these updates reliably. This setting only has a small impact on phone battery usage, but it ensures your device can be monitored and synchronised as intended.
If you see a banner in the app asking you to change this setting, it means your device is currently limiting background activity. The banner includes a shortcut to the correct settings page. If you do not see a banner, your device is already configured correctly, or you’re using a platform that doesn’t require this change.
You can still manually check your Android battery settings at any time by opening the app info page if you want to confirm that the app is set to “Unrestricted.”
